Back to the Future (without the hoverboard)

DETAILS

Much like the movie many of us accountants came from, and maybe still are in a different
technological; rather than time zone to where we need to be. Sometimes we do have to go back to be stronger going forward and there is still time!

Graeme will share his personal war stories from:

  • First replicating the same firm he trained in and being all about spreadsheets and face to
face meetings and self-financed a team of six and 250 clients with no debt,
  • To then recognising how he’d fallen behind his competition and got ‘software drunk’ and invested in all of the wrong things at the wrong time with access to only a few hundred pounds in the bank; then
  • Roll on 18 months and the development of a tech stack alongside strategic direction underpinned by a balanced approach incorporating technology and the skills accountants are trained in has opened up opportunities never before dreamt of.

Using the right technology at the right time and after getting rid of clients Graeme will highlight the four bits of software that has helped his firm achieve in excess of 70% growth in turnover and
over 200% growth in net profit.

Dave Sellick

Excel, but not like you’ve seen it before…

DETAILS

Want to use Excel to drive reporting and forecasting/modelling but don’t think it’s beautiful, automated or scalable enough – particularly when compared to new fintech offerings?

In an industry where there seems to be increasing desire to step away from Excel, this session will be showcasing output from Excel that may make you reconsider. In 2020 we need our reporting and modelling to be:

– Beautiful

– Automated

– Quickly customisable

– Scalable

– Seamlessly Integrated with Cloud Accounting Tech

– Accessible to view on the cloud

This session briefly showcases Excels ability to be all these things and more. Dave believes Excel is still the Ferrari of the Accounting tech toolset and this session sets out to stir renewed curiosity for its immense power and value in the accounting industry, particularly in the context of the digital accounting revolution
